SUST TAKES PART IN ALLPI FORUM
The Vice-chancellor, Professor Awad Saad Hassan, accompanied by Leather Incubator Director, Sunni Hamid, returned from Malawi. There, they took part in the 13th Africa Leather and Leather Product Institute (ALLPI) Annual Regional Consultative Forum, which was held from 11th to 13th December 20119 at Bingu Wa Mutharika International Convention Center (BICC), and with the participation of twelve COMESA countries in addition to India, Turkey and Germany.
Professor Awad, after his return, stated that the forum discussed the challenges facing workers in the leather industry in general and Sudan in particular. In addition, it discussed the activities of the ALLPI in the COMESA countries and other topics that help in the development of leather industries in the member countries.
However, SUST participated in the forum by presenting a scientific paper on small and medium producers in the field of leather industry in Sudan, as well as, it joined the delegation of Sudan in presenting the country paper. Moreover, SUST formed a distinguished presence in the academia platform that presented the recommendations and proposals.
Professor Awad met, on the sidelines of the forum, with the presidents of African, Indian and Turkish universities and discussed with them ways of cooperation in finding opportunities for postgraduate studies, research and exchange program.
